Teriyakis Eastern Express (Eddie)
SEPTEMBER 11, 1995 - JULY 31, 2007

Eddie taught me what an Akita is all about. He was beautiful, in
body and in soul. Eddie's show career was cut short when he was
injured as a one year old. He wound up having 4 leg surgeries, and
suffered with arthritis in his spine in his later years.
Eddie loved kids of all kinds - both puppies and humans. He adored my 8
year old granddaughter, and was always very gentle with her and her
friends. He loved puppies, and played no small part in raising my litters.
One of my favorite memories of him is him lying in the back yard, almost
like a sphinx, looking over "his" puppies, even though he was never bred.
Everyone who came to my home was a bit overwhelmed by Eddie, because of his
imposing stature. In his later years, he mellowed to the point that he
greeted everyone with a big hello kiss.
Ed was truly my late wife's soulmate. When she passed away 5 years ago,
I didn't think Eddie would make it. Instead of giving up, however, he
transferred his love to me and the rest of the family, and only wanted to be
near me at all times. He had difficulty climbing stairs, because of his leg
problems, but managed to get up the stairs whenever I was in my office, or
my bedroom. Ed always slept in my bathroom, on the cool tiles.
I will miss his big, beautiful head and body, and bigger soul. A truly
great one left us. I will miss him terribly.
Eddie was our first show dog, and
was the king of
the kennel.
