TERIYAKI'S DEERRUN'S DUSTMAKER (DUSTY)

SEPTEMBER 26, 1997 - AUGUST 1, 2006

Our  first bitch - a VERY sweet, VERY special girl. Dusty would have been nine years old

.  We discovered an inoperable growth in her urethra, which made it impossible for her to urinate. We had her humanely euthanized, to end her suffering.  She crossed the Bridge while I held  her in my arms one last time.  Rest in peace, old girl.

Teriyakis Eastern Express (Eddie)

SEPTEMBER 11, 1995 - JULY 31, 2007

Eddie taught me what an Akita is all about.  He was beautiful, in body and in soul.  Eddie's show career was  cut short when he was injured as a one year old.  He wound up having 4 leg surgeries, and suffered with arthritis in his spine in his later years.

Eddie loved kids of all kinds - both puppies and humans.  He adored my 8 year old granddaughter, and was always very gentle with her and her friends.  He loved puppies, and played no small part in raising my litters.  One of my favorite memories of him is him lying in the back yard, almost like a sphinx, looking over "his" puppies, even though he was never bred.  Everyone who came to my home was a bit overwhelmed by Eddie, because of his imposing stature.  In his later years, he mellowed to the point that he greeted everyone with a big hello kiss.

Ed was truly my late wife's soulmate.  When she passed away 5 years ago, I didn't think Eddie would make it.  Instead of giving up, however, he transferred his love to me and the rest of the family, and only wanted to be near me at all times.  He had difficulty climbing stairs, because of his leg problems, but managed to get up the stairs whenever I was in my office, or my bedroom.  Ed always slept in my bathroom, on the cool tiles.

I will miss his big, beautiful head and body, and bigger soul.  A truly great one left us.  I will miss him terribly.

Eddie was our first show dog, and was the king of the kennel.

CH SERDESS CRISTAL THE TECTOR ROM (CRYSTAL)

June 16, 1997 - May 7, 2007

CH. CRYSTAL WAS A BITCH THAT NEEDED NO INTRODUCTION.   CRYSTAL  MADE HER MARK ON THE AKITA BREED, AS THE DAM OF  CH. CUTTER, A GROUP WINNER FROM THE CLASSES, AND CH. REGALIA'S SPOZALIZIO OF SERDESS (PUTZI), WHO IS STILL THE YOUNGEST AKITA TO EVER WIN AN ALL BREED BEST IN SHOW.  CRYSTAL IS ALSO THE DAM OF  CH. GRANDSLAMS CITATION REGALIA (CITATION), WHO FINISHED HIS CHAMPIONSHIP AT 11 MONTHS OLD, AND HIS BROTHER CH. GRANDSLAM'S KY BREW AT MIDNITE (BOURBON), WHO IS LOVED AND OWNED BY LYNN MORGAN OF MIDNITE AKITAS.  IN ADDITION, CRYSTAL IS THE DAM OF CH. REGALIA'S CRESCENDO, WHO FINISHED IN UNDER 10 SHOWS WITH 3 5 POINT MAJORS.  SHE ALSO IS THE DAM OF CH. GRAND SLAM SLUGGER OF DEER RUN, CH. DEER RUN G'SLAM LAST SAMURAI, AND DEER RUN'S CRYSTAL RIVER (ICE) WHO ONLY NEEDS A MAJOR TO FINISH.  CRYSTAL WAS THE TYPE OF BITCH TO BUILD A KENNEL AROUND, AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT JOHN PENATELLO OF GRAND SLAM AKITAS DID.  CRYSTAL WAS ONE OF THE SWEETEST DOGS WE HAVE EVER KNOWN, AND WANTED NOTHING MORE THAN TO PLEASE HER OWNER.  IN SHORT, THERE WAS  ONLY ONE CRYSTAL, AND WITHOUT A DOUBT, SHE WILL BE MISSED.

Ch. Northland's Shades of Sunset (Shady) was the bitch I co owned with Bill Burland.
